Position Description

The Data Specialist position is responsible for providing support to the Data Quality Manager by monitoring the client data management systems, reporting, maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards, training new and current system users and providing support to internal agency teams who require data.
The current client data system of record for the agency is CaseWorthy and the Homeless Information Management System (HMIS) is WellSky Community Services.

• Apply knowledge of homeless services and database management to identify potential errors
• Assist all agency departments with their data-related needs
• Adhere to and exhibit an understanding of the mission of St. Patrick Center and the agency’s Core Values of: Compassion, Collaboration, Commitment and Creativity
• Provide training to staff on client data management system
• Provide in-person, phone and e-mail support for questions concerning client data or data management systems in timely and courteous manner
• Monitor the collection of program data
• Assist with CaseWorthy and Service Point comparisons
• Assist with data quality reviews
• Assist with CaseWorthy system maintenance and system upgrades
• Participate as an active member of the HMIS committees for the St. Louis City and St. Louis County Continuum of Care and act as the agency relationship manager with ICA/ServicePoint
• Provide clinical program support to database users
• Provide support for reporting
• Other duties as needed

• Required Bachelor’s degree with experience in data management, mathematics or research
• Experience with program evaluation, research design and statistical analysis preferred
• Experience with instructing technical skills to users with various proficiency levels preferred
• Experience with SQL and/or VBA preferred
• Experience with Tableau and/or Microsoft Power BI preferred

• Excellent data-management and organizational skills, including attention to detail and sensitivity to data quality
• Critical-thinking and analytical skills
• Ability to manage and complete multiple time-sensitive projects
• Proficient at using Excel
• Group facilitation skills and knowledge of training techniques for adult learners
• Excellent written and active listening skills, including the ability to interact with personnel at various levels (direct service staff, program managers, students, and administrators)

• Willingness to build new areas of expertise, including knowledge of evidenced-based practices and methods for evaluating the effectiveness of these approaches
